Job summary

Eastern Metropolitan Regional Council (EMRC) seeks a strategic Chief Financial Officer to lead financial management, governance and performance across a regional portfolio. Reporting to the CEO, you will drive planning, reporting and risk management while guiding a multidisciplinary team and supporting the EMRC’s Strategic Plan.

Qualifications

• Significant senior management experience in a corporate environment.
• Extensive experience in financial management, planning, forecasting, budgeting and reporting.
• Strong knowledge of strategic and business planning and performance benchmarking.
• Proven ability to lead and develop multidisciplinary teams.
• Excellent written communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Commitment to governance, compliance and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic leadership across financial management, planning, governance and risk.
• Lead and develop a diverse finance and information services team.
• Guide organisational strategy, performance management and continuous improvement.
• Oversee risk management, insurance, business continuity and WHS systems.
• Advise CEO and Council with high-quality financial and governance insights.
• Ensure sound financial stewardship and compliance with legislation and standards.
