Job summary

City of Greater Geelong is seeking a Civil Engineer to support the planning and delivery of innovative, sustainable stormwater management across the municipality.

You will work closely with the Senior Engineer and a range of internal and external stakeholders, providing technical advice, reviewing development proposals, and helping develop strategies, policies, and standards for integrated water management.

Qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualification (civil engineering or similar) allowing future eligibility for engineering registration in line with the Victorian registration scheme.
  • Some experience in municipal engineering, particularly related to stormwater management and land development.
  • Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to translate technical information into plain English.
  • Good conceptual skills with experience in conducting research, analysing data and synthesising results into tangible plans, guidelines, policies, strategies and other outcomes.
  • National Police Check may be required as part of recruitment (funded by the City).

About The Role

In this role, you will support the planning and delivery of innovative, sustainable stormwater management across the municipality. Working closely with the Senior Engineer and a range of internal and external stakeholders, you’ll provide technical advice, review development proposals, and help develop strategies, policies, and standards that guide the City’s stormwater infrastructure and integrated water management.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a civil engineer with a passion for urban planning, sustainability, and community outcomes to apply their technical and analytical skills in a collaborative environment.

Work type: Permanent Full Time
Classification: Band 6 $98,633 pa plus super

Key responsibilities include:

  • Provide technical advice and review stormwater management plans, strategies, and development proposals.
  • Support the development of coordinated stormwater infrastructure planning and standards.
  • Assist in preparing policies, guidelines, and strategies for integrated water management and floodplain management.
