Job summary

Public Sector People is seeking a technically strong engineer to drive stormwater planning, management and delivery across Logan's local government area. Reporting to the Manager River and Catchment Engineering, you’ll provide specialist engineering advice across Council’s stormwater programs, including planning, modelling, asset management and reporting to stakeholders and the community.

Ideal candidates hold civil/environmental/water engineering degree, Engineers Australia eligibility, and

Qualifications

• Must hold tertiary engineering qualification and be eligible for Engineers Australia.
• Preferably be RPEQ registered or pursuing registration under Queensland Act.
• Strong knowledge of stormwater policies, standards and guidelines.
• Experience with stormwater modelling and GIS analysis.
• Experience in managing consultants and projects.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver stormwater infrastructure and capital works.
• Investigate drainage issues and develop practical engineering solutions.
• Provide technical advice on stormwater management and asset planning.
• Support Master Drainage Statement of Intent and LGIP development.
• Assess stormwater management plans and related technical reports.
• Manage consultants and technical projects.
• Prepare high-quality technical reports and present recommendations.
• Apply best-practice standards to stormwater planning and design.

Key Responsibilities

• Planning and delivery of stormwater infrastructure and capital works programs.
• Investigating drainage issues and developing practical engineering solutions.
• Providing technical advice on stormwater management, infrastructure planning and asset management.
• Supporting the development and delivery of the Master Drainage Statement of Intent and LGIP.
• Assessing stormwater management plans and related technical reports.
• Managing consultants and technical projects.
• Preparing high-quality technical reports and presenting recommendations to stakeholders and the community.
• Applying industry best practice, policies, standards and guidelines to stormwater planning and design.

About you

• Tertiary qualifications in Civil, Environmental, Water Engineering or an equivalent discipline.
• Eligibility for membership of Engineers Australia.
• Preferably RPEQ registered, or committed to obtaining registration under the Queensland Professional Engineers Act in Civil or Water Engineering.
• Substantial demonstrated knowledge of stormwater technical approaches, policies, standards and guidelines.
• Strong understanding of stormwater infrastructure planning and design, including the Queensland Urban Drainage Manual (QUDM).
• Experience in stormwater modelling and technical assessment.
• Experience in project and consultant management.
• Strong written, verbal, presentation and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Experience with relevant stormwater modelling and GIS software.
• A current C class driver's license.
