Job summary

Captain Cook Cruises on Sydney Harbour is seeking a dedicated Steward to ensure a seamless cruising experience with warmth and professionalism. You will prepare the vessel before guests board and deliver meals and drinks with impeccable presentation, then reset for the next service.

You will work closely with the Cruise Director and hospitality team to maintain safety, service standards, and guest satisfaction on every voyage. Applications close 5pm on Sunday 20th September 2026.

Qualifications

• RSA certificate is essential.
• Food Safety certificate is a bonus if you have one.
• Previous experience in hospitality or tourism helps you hit the ground running.

Responsibilities

• Set up the vessel for service, front and back of house, ahead of each cruise.
• Deliver food and beverage service to guests with a high standard of presentation and care
• Lend a hand with food preparation and presentation when needed
• Clean and reset the vessel and equipment at the end of each service
• Keep all workspaces and crew areas clean, tidy and hygienic
• Follow Responsible Service of Alcohol requirements at all times

We're building a bench of exceptional Stewards for Captain Cook Cruises — the calibre of hospitality professional who takes pride in every plate, every pour and every detail of the guest experience. If that's you, we'd love to hear from you ahead of our upcoming crewing needs.

About the Role

As a Steward, you'll play a hands-on role in making every cruise run smoothly — from prepping the vessel before guests come aboard to delivering food and drinks with genuine warmth and professionalism, right through to resetting for the next service. You'll work closely with your Cruise Director or Venue Manager and the wider hospitality and catering team, so there's always support close by and always something new to learn.

About You

You're a team player with strong communication skills and the initiative to get on with the job without needing to be told twice. You take pride in your presentation and hold yourself to a high standard, and you're comfortable adapting when plans change mid-shift — because on the water, they sometimes do. A current RSA is essential, and a Food Safety certificate is a bonus if you've got one. Previous experience in hospitality or tourism will help you hit the ground running, but a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn count for just as much.
