Job summary

Hunter New England Health is seeking a Sterilisation Technician at Armidale Rural Referral Hospital. You will reprocess and sterilise surgical instruments and reusable devices to support theatres and clinical areas across the hospital.

Role requires attention to detail, adherence to infection prevention standards and the ability to work with perioperative teams. Certificate III in Sterilisation is being pursued, with 12-month completion target.

Qualifications

• Desirable experience in sterilising services, theatres, healthcare or similar.
• Knowledge of infection prevention and AS 5369:2023 requirements.
• Attention to detail and commitment to patient safety.

Responsibilities

• Clean, decontaminate and prepare surgical instruments and reusable devices.
• Inspect, assemble, package, sterilise and store devices using validated methods.
• Maintain compliance with AS 5369:2023 and hospital policies.
• Operate washer-disinfectors, sterilisers and drying cabinets.
• Maintain sterile stock levels and support inventory management.
• Record instruments using electronic traceability systems.
• Collaborate with perioperative and clinical teams to deliver sterile services.
