NSW Health in Broken Hill is seeking a Sterilisation Technician to prepare, sterilise and disinfect reusable medical and surgical instruments, ensuring safety and infection control within the CSSD team. The role requires a Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services and physical ability for demanding tasks.

What you’ll be doing

The Sterilisation Technician is primarily responsible for the preparation, sterilisation, storage and thermal disinfection of reusable medical & surgical instruments and equipment to prevent the transmission of infection, working within a small team under routine supervision.

Ensure reusable medical and surgical instruments and equipment are safely prepared for use through the completion of cleaning, inspection, assembly, packaging, sterilisation and thermal disinfection processes within the CSSD in Broken Hill Health Service.

• Completion of a Certificate IV in Sterilisation Services (or an equivalent qualification) and completion of all relevant Sterilising and Endoscopy Service Technician competencies.
• Physically capable of carrying out all duties, including standing for long periods, lifting pushing and pulling loads, as outlined in the Job Demands Checklist for this role.
• Ability to relate well to others and work effectively as a member of a team.
• Demonstrated interpersonal written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to apply a problem-solving approach to work tasks.
