Job summary

The North Australian Pastoral Company (NAPCo) invites you to Mantuan Downs Station to join as a Station Cook. You’ll prepare hearty meals for the crew, plan varied menus, and manage groceries while keeping the kitchen clean and safe.

This remote station role offers on-site accommodation and the chance to thrive in a unique Australian cattle-station lifestyle. You’ll contribute to a tight-knit team, enjoy meals and a private air-conditioned room, and participate in on-the-job training and station

• Proven experience cooking for live-in teams or large groups.
• Strong understanding of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Organised, proactive, and able to manage time effectively.

Responsibilities

• Cook tasty, wholesome meals for around 12–15 people regularly (plus occasional guests).
• Plan menus that are fresh, varied, and satisfying.
• Manage grocery lists and ensure stock levels are maintained.
• Keep the kitchen, dining area and food storage clean and organised.
• Look after kitchen equipment and keep it in good working order.

Mantuan Downs Station, QLD

Mantuan Downs Station is located between Springsure and Tambo, and is approx. 2.5 hours south of Emerald, near Carnarvon National Park. Mantuan Downs has approximately 18,000 head of cattle and is a large-scale cattle breeding & backgrounding property covering 134,000ha. Country ranges from large areas of brigalow/wilga/bottle tree scrub to open downs, soft forest hollows and areas of lighter forest and ranges.

The Position

Join the crew at Mantuan Downs Station as a Station Cook, serving up hearty, home-style meals that keep our crew energised and ready for the day ahead. We’re looking for someone who’s organised, friendly, and loves creating delicious, nutritious food. This is your chance to experience life on an iconic Australian cattle station while making a real difference to the day-to-day lives of our crew.
