Job summary

NAPCo is seeking an experienced Station Cook to join Mantuan Downs Station, QLD. The role involves preparing home-style meals for 12–15 crew members, planning varied menus, and ensuring groceries and supplies are well stocked.

You will maintain a clean kitchen and dining area, look after equipment, and contribute to a positive on-station living environment, with meals and accommodation provided.

Qualifications

• Experience cooking for live-in teams or large groups.
• Ability to plan varied menus.
• Strong time management and organisational skills.
• Knowledge of food hygiene and kitchen safety.
• Willingness to embrace the remote station lifestyle.

Responsibilities

• Cooking tasty, wholesome meals for around 12–15 people regularly (plus the occasional guest).
• Planning menus that keep things fresh and satisfying.
• Managing grocery lists and ensuring supplies are always stocked.
• Keeping the kitchen, dining area, and food storage clean and organised.
• Looking after kitchen equipment and keeping everything in top shape.

Mantuan Downs Station, QLD
Mantuan Downs Station is located between Springsure and Tambo, and is approx. 2.5 hours south of Emerald, near Carnarvon National Park. Mantuan Downs has approximately 18,000 head of cattle and is a large-scale cattle breeding & backgrounding property covering 134,000ha. Country ranges from large areas of brigalow/wilga/bottle tree scrub to open downs, soft forest hollows and areas of lighter forest and ranges.
The Position
Join the crew at Mantuan Downs Station as a Station Cook, serving up hearty, home-style meals that keep our crew energised and ready for the day ahead. We’re looking for someone who’s organised, friendly, and loves creating delicious, nutritious food. This is your chance to experience life on an iconic Australian cattle station while making a real difference to the day-to-day lives of our crew.
