Clonagh Station in Northwest QLD is seeking a hands-on Cook to provide high-quality meals for about 18 staff. You will plan menus, prepare daily meals, and ensure food safety.

Job description

In the role of Cook at Clonagh Station, you will play an important role in supporting our station team by providing high-quality meals and creating a welcoming dining experience. This is a hands‑on position suited to someone who is organised, enjoys cooking and baking, and thrives in a busy rural environment.

Clonagh is a 207,000 hectare cattle breeding station located in Northwest QLD, 70Km north of our local town Cloncurry. The station is situated within a very social/eventful area, with the successful applicant being able to be involved in many community/social events.

Key responsibilities include:

• Preparing and serving daily meals for approximately 18 station staff
• Planning and preparing breakfast, smoko, lunch and dinner, including packed smoko and lunch options for staff working in the paddock.
• Developing nutritious and varied menus that cater to the needs of a hardworking station workforce.
• Catering for larger station events and programs throughout the year, including Induction Week, Future Leaders Week, Colt Challenge activities and other station gatherings, where guest numbers may increase significantly. The ability to plan ahead, stay organised and confidently cater for larger groups is essential.
• Managing meal planning, stock ordering and inventory to ensure the kitchen is well supplied and operating efficiently.
• Maintaining high standards of food safety, hygiene and kitchen presentation at all times.
• Demonstrating strong organisation and time management skills to ensure meals are prepared and served promptly each day.
• Working independently while also contributing positively to the broader station community and culture.

About you:

To be successful in this role you will have a love of cooking and baking. It is essential you have a good understanding of nutrition and attention for details in stock ordering, meal planning and time management. We are looking for a cook who prioritises high food hygiene standards.
