Job summary

Surf Life Saving Queensland is seeking a State Operations & Communications Centre Supervisor to lead the statewide operational communications capability and support safety across Queensland communities.

You will oversee the SOCC day-to-day operations, coordinate emergency incidents and search and rescue responses, and lead a dedicated team while driving improvements in systems, training and performance.

Qualifications

• Experience leading or supervising a team in high-pressure, time-critical environments.
• Strong communication skills with diverse stakeholders.
• Experience in emergency management, incident coordination, search and rescue or related fields.
• Strong systems and technology capabilities.
• Commitment to building an inclusive and supportive team culture.
• Experience working in an Emergency Operations Centre or similar communications centre.
• Knowledge of AIIMS principles (highly regarded).
• Qualifications in Public Safety or Emergency Services (highly regarded).
• Surf lifesaving, beach patrol or emergency response experience (highly regarded).

Responsibilities

• Lead the daily operations of the State Operations & Communications Centre.
• Coordinate emergency incidents and search and rescue responses across Queensland.
• Supervise and develop a team of Operators and Communication Coordinators.
• Manage operational communications systems and technologies supporting service delivery.
• Enhance readiness, training standards, quality assurance and performance outcomes.
• Build relationships with emergency services, councils, volunteers and stakeholders.
• Drive innovation and continuous improvement to strengthen operational capability.
