Job description

Big ambitions, exciting growth and a future-focused mindset. Join us as NSW State Manager and help shape what's next for our business and our people.

There's something special about leading a business where commercial success and genuine purpose go hand in hand. At ANZUK, we're looking for an experienced recruitment leader to take the reins of our Schools and Early Childhood divisions, leading established teams, driving revenue and profitability, and helping shape our next chapter of growth.

This is a significant leadership opportunity for someone who loves the commercial side of recruitment just as much as developing people. Someone who knows how to build a high-performing, values-led culture, inspire great work and turn opportunity into results.

About the role

As State Manager, you'll have accountability for the commercial performance, people leadership and continued growth of our Schools and Early Childhood businesses.

You’ll lead within a complex, matrixed structure, where teams and leaders operate across state and divisional reporting lines. Success will depend on your ability to bring people together, influence beyond your direct reports and create alignment around shared commercial and organisational goals.

This is a role that combines strategic influence with genuine operational and revenue accountability. You'll need to understand what drives billing performance, know when to get close to the detail and be equally comfortable empowering others to deliver.

Your focus will include:
  • Commercial leadership: Growstate revenue, billing performance, profitability and growth, translating ambitious targets into clear plans and measurable results.
  • People leadership: Inspire, coach and develop high-performing teams and emerging leaders, building capability, accountability and a culture of shared success.
  • Matrix leadership: Navigate multiple reporting relationships, align divisional and state priorities, and influence stakeholders to deliver collective outcomes.
  • Business development: Strengthen existing partnerships, identify new commercial opportunities and support your teams to build sustainable client relationships.
  • Operational excellence: Drive productivity, service quality and commercial discipline across both Schools and Early Childhood divisions.
  • Strategic influence: Partner with senior leaders to shape business priorities, identify market opportunities and contribute to broader organisational strategy.

You’ll inherit established teams and a strong foundation, with the opportunity to bring your own leadership approach, commercial instincts and ideas to what comes next.

Perks along the way
  • A leadership opportunity with genuine commercial influence
  • The chance to lead established teams multiple divisions and markets
  • A collaborative, values-driven leadership environment
  • Professional development and leadership opportunities across our global business
  • A culture that celebrates achievement, collaboration and shared success
  • Wellbeing initiatives, EAP support, Beny membership and team events
  • The opportunity to make a meaningful impact in an organisation with purpose at its heart
About you

First and foremost, you're a commercial recruitment leader. You understand the mechanics of a successful recruitment business, what drives revenue, how to build productive teams and how to balance commercial ambition with great client and candidate outcomes.

You might come from a temporary or permanent recruitment background. Education or healthcare agency recruitment experience would be highly relevant, but we're equally interested in leaders from other people-centred or purpose-led recruitment sectors.

You’ll bring:
  • Proven experience leading successful recruitment teams, ideally with responsibility for a substantial revenue portfolio or business unit
  • Strong commercial acumen, including ownership of revenue targets, budgets, profitability and business growth
  • A track record of developing leaders, lifting team performance and creating an environment where people thrive
  • Experience operating within complex or matrixed structures, with the ability to influence across reporting lines and balance competing priorities
  • A genuine understanding of recruitment sales, business development, client partnerships and the drivers of billing performance
  • The confidence to make commercial decisions, challenge thinking and lead with both accountability and empathy
  • The ability to move comfortably between strategic thinking and hands‑on operational leadership
  • A collaborative, grounded leadership style, with the emotional intelligence to build trust and bring people with you

You’ll be commercially ambitious without being driven by individual success at the expense of the team. You understand that strong cultures and strong commercial outcomes aren’t competing priorities; they’re mutually reinforcing.

Why us?

ANZUK Group is a global, for-purpose recruitment company built on a simple idea: connect great people with meaningful roles in industries that make a real impact.

Through ANZUK Education, we connect exceptional educators with schools and early learning communities, helping create outstanding educational experiences for children every day.

We’re proud of the business we've built, the people who make it what it is and the opportunity ahead.

Our culture is grounded in four things:
  • Alignment to purpose: The work we do matters. Behind every placement is an educator, a classroom and a group of children whose learning experience we can positively influence.
  • Connection: We’re a people business in every sense. We value genuine relationships, collaboration and leaders who bring out the best in others.
  • Achievement: We’re commercially ambitious and proud of it. We set high standards, celebrate success and believe the best results come when teams succeed together.
  • Growth: We’re a global business with big ambitions. We invest in our people, develop future leaders and create opportunities to grow professionally and personally.

This is an opportunity to lead a meaningful part of our business, influence its future and be part of a leadership team that genuinely cares about both the results we achieve and how we achieve them.

More than work. This is where you find your people.
