Job summary

Coles Group is seeking a State Asset & Maintenance Manager for WA/SA/NT to own facilities, asset management and maintenance outcomes across the store network. You will collaborate with operational leads, technicians and partners to keep stores safe, compliant and operating reliably.

You will drive asset performance, lead maintenance strategies and manage lifecycle plans while balancing day-to-day responsiveness with proactive improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience leading maintenance and asset management across a large multi-site portfolio.
  • Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical and food production equipment.
  • Proven ability to manage facilities partners, contractors, budgets and OPEX/CAPEX.

Responsibilities

  • Lead planned and reactive maintenance across WA/SA/NT, delivering safe, reliable and compliant store environments.
  • Partner with State, regional and store leaders to resolve priorities and lift service outcomes.
  • Drive performance of the facilities management partner and providers against KPIs, SLAs and budgets.
  • Use asset condition data to shape lifecycle, renewal and replacement plans.
  • Maintain a strong store presence across WA/SA/NT and identify reliability improvements.
  • Lead critical maintenance incidents with clear communication and timely escalation.
  • Collaborate with Construction, Safety, Finance, Procurement and Property for project handovers and budgets.

About the role


As State Asset & Maintenance Manager for WA, SA and NT, you’ll take ownership of facilities, asset management and maintenance outcomes across our store network. You’ll work closely with operational and State leads, technicians and our facilities management partners to keep stores safe, compliant and operating reliably for our teams and customers. As a key conduit, you’ll balance day-to-day responsiveness with proactive asset planning and continuous improvement. You will also:

  • Lead planned and reactive maintenance across WA/SA/NT, delivering safe, reliable and compliant store environments.
  • Partner with State, regional and store leaders to resolve priorities, lift service outcomes and improve asset performance.
  • Drive performance of the facilities management partner and specialist providers against KPIs, SLAs, budgets and contractual commitments.
  • Use asset condition, reliability and maintenance insights to reduce recurring issues and shape lifecycle, renewal and replacement plans.
  • Maintain a strong store presence across WA/SA/NT, identifying opportunities to improve reliability, service quality and the store experience.
  • Lead critical maintenance incidents and recovery, ensuring clear communication, timely escalation and effective resolution.
  • Partner across Construction, Safety, Finance, Procurement and Property to support project handovers, compliance, budgets, capital planning and continuous improvement.
About you and your skills


You’re an experienced facilities leader with strong exposure to multi-site retail, operations and/or centre management or similarly complex asset portfolios, and you know how to build trusted relationships across operational and technical teams. Agile and responsive, you communicate clearly, work comfortably across competing priorities and stay focused on practical outcomes that keep stores operating safely and efficiently. You will have:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Engineering, Facilities, Building Services, Asset Management or a related discipline.
  • Proven experience leading maintenance and asset management across a large, multi-site portfolio, ideally within food retail or a similarly complex environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge across HVAC, refrigeration, mechanical, electrical and food production equipment.
  • Demonstrated capability in asset lifecycle, reliability, condition assessment, root cause analysis and replacement planning.
  • Commercial experience managing facilities partners, contractors, budgets, forecasts and OPEX and CAPEX decisions.
  • Strong stakeholder leadership, with the ability to use data and operational insight to influence decisions, manage incidents and drive continuous improvement.
