Job summary

Mid North Coast Local Health District in NSW Health is recruiting for Staff Specialist - MNC Virtual Care. The role delivers safe medical services within a virtual care framework and aims to reduce low-acuity ED presentations and preventable admissions while facilitating early hospital discharge.

You will educate and supervise junior staff, liaise with NSW Ambulance and EDs, and prepare discharge summaries for GPs. The position aligns with NSW Health policies and Category A requirements.

• The primary purpose of MNC Virtual Care is to reduce low acuity ED presentations, reduce preventable admissions and facilitate early hospital discharge.
• Provide effective and safe medical services within a virtual care framework.
• Provide education, supervision and support to junior medical staff, paramedics and nursing staff.
• Formulate and follow protocols to guide expansion of virtual care medical service.
• Liaise with NSW Ambulance and the Emergency Departments of the MNCLHD for patients referred to the service.
• Provide discharge summaries to Primary GPs at the time of discharge from the service.
• Remain to up to date with best medical practice, specifically as regards Virtual Care medicine.
• Remain up to date with MNC Virtual pathways and directives.

This is a Category A position. Recommended applicants will be reviewed for compliance with NSW Health policy directive for Category A positions prior to offer.

Salary will be accordance with NSW Health State Awards for the advertised classification/s. These awards are available at https://www.health.nsw.gov.au/careers/conditions/pages/default.aspx.

TALENT POOL MAY BE CREATED FOR FUTURE ROLES AND WILL REMAIN VALID FOR 18 MONTHS.
