Job summary

Staff Specialist - MNC Virtual Care at Southern NSW Local Health District is tasked with reducing low-acuity ED presentations, preventing unnecessary admissions and enabling early hospital discharge through a robust virtual care framework.

The role includes delivering safe medical services, and providing education, supervision and support to junior medical staff, paramedics and nursing staff, while following established virtual care protocols for program expansion.

• Provide effective and safe medical services within a virtual care framework.
• Educate, supervise and support junior medical staff, paramedics and nursing staff.
• Formulate and follow protocols to guide expansion of virtual care services.
• Liaise with NSW Ambulance and MNCLHD EDs for patients referred to the service.
• Provide discharge summaries to Primary GPs at discharge from the service.
• Stay up to date with best medical practice in Virtual Care medicine.
• Adhere to MNC Virtual pathways and directives.

• The primary purpose of MNC Virtual Care is to reduce low acuity ED presentations, reduce preventable admissions and facilitate early hospital discharge.
• Provide effective and safe medical services within a virtual care framework.
• Provide education, supervision and support to junior medical staff, paramedics and nursing staff.
• Formulate and follow protocols to guide expansion of virtual care medical service.
• Liaise with NSW Ambulance and the Emergency Departments of the MNCLHD for patients referred to the service.
• Provide discharge summaries to Primary GPs at the time of discharge from the service.
• Remain to up to date with best medical practice, specifically as regards Virtual Care medicine.
• Remain up to date with MNC Virtual pathways and directives.
