Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to lead cloud-native platform design and operation, migrating and enhancing secure content services on AWS and Kubernetes. You will mentor engineers, shape architecture, and drive AI-enabled capabilities while ensuring secure-by-design practices and operational excellence.

You will advance automation, testing, observability and scalable delivery, collaborating across squads to strengthen resilience and cost efficiency in enterprise content platforms.

Qualifications

• Strong software engineering background with hands-on design, testing and secure coding practices.
• Experience building and operating cloud-native platforms on AWS and Kubernetes.
• Practical experience with AI-enabled solutions and intelligent automation.
• Proficient in CI/CD, GitHub Actions, GitOps, Argo CD, Helm and IaC like CloudFormation.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design, development, deployment and operation of secure, scalable cloud-native software solutions.
• Shape architecture and technical direction across AWS and Kubernetes-based platforms.
• Develop software and automation.
• Integrate AI-enabled capabilities into the platform and guide practical adoption.
• Embed automated testing, observability, monitoring and secure-by-design practices.
• Improve delivery through infrastructure as code, CI/CD and reusable engineering patterns.
• Strengthen operational resilience, reliability, disaster recovery, performance and cost efficiency.
• Mentor engineers and influence architecture and standards across squads.
