Job summary

IREN is seeking a Staff Network Development Engineer in Sydney to define the architecture and roadmap for our network automation platform, spanning from data sources to deployment and remediation. You will write core services in Python/Go and set engineering standards for reliability and CI/CD.

You will also drive telemetry and analytics at scale, apply AI/ML to network operations, and mentor senior engineers while shaping the software-defined network for AI at a global scale.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience as a senior or staff software, network development or site reliability engineer for large data centre, cloud or hyperscale networks.
• Expert software engineering in Python or Go, with a track record of distributed systems & APIs in production.
• Deep experience with network automation platforms, data models (YANG), telemetry and closed-loop automation.
• Strong BGP, OSPF/IS-IS, MPLS TE, VXLAN and EVPN knowledge for large HPC/AI networks.

Responsibilities

• Define architecture and roadmap for IREN's network automation platform from source of truth to deployment and remediation.
• Develop core services in Python or Go with production-grade quality.
• Set engineering standards for network software, including design, testing, CI/CD and reliability.
• Lead telemetry, observability and analytics at scale to automate operations.
• Lead the use of AI/ML in network operations, e.g., anomaly detection and automated change review.
• Partner with architecture, security and engineering leaders to make the network software-defined.
• Ensure safety of automated production changes and lead incident reviews involving software.
• Mentor senior engineers and grow the network software capability of the team.
• Define operation model for a globally scaled AI-ready network and influence future tooling and team structure.
