Job summary

IREN is expanding its AI cloud infrastructure, building out GPU-enabled data centres with advanced networking to support demanding AI workloads. As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, deploy and automate the network fabric for these environments in the Australian deployment team.

You will lead data centre fabric design, implement CLOS/ECMP architectures, and work with Arista, Cisco, Dell and other leading platforms.

Qualifications

• Proven experience designing and deploying large-scale data centre networks.
• Deep expertise in data centre fabric architectures (CLOS, ECMP, VXLAN, BGP EVPN).
• Automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform and Git/GitLab.

Capital Executive Search is exclusively partnering with IREN to appoint a Senior Network Engineer into its Australian Deployment Team. IREN is an Australian-founded, NASDAQ-listed infrastructure company headquartered in Sydney, building and operating next-generation data centres designed for high-performance computing and AI.

IREN is rapidly expanding its AI Cloud infrastructure, deploying large-scale GPU environments and the networking architecture required to support some of the world’s most demanding AI workloads. The company owns and operates its data centre infrastructure, with a focus on renewable energy and power-dense computing.

This is an opportunity to join the team responsible for bringing new AI data centre capacity online, working across high-performance networking, GPU fabrics, automation and large-scale deployment.

The Role:

As a Senior Network Engineer, you will design, deploy, automate and optimise the network infrastructure supporting IREN's AI/HPC environments.

You will:

• Design and deploy high-performance data centre networks across GPU compute, storage, front-end and management environments
• Design and implement CLOS / ECMP data centre fabrics
• Work across Layer 2/3 technologies including VLANs, VXLAN, BGP EVPN, OSPF and IS-IS
• Lead network workstreams through data centre construction, energisation and deployment
• Work closely with construction, electrical, data centre operations and engineering teams on rack layouts, cabling and deployment timelines
• Provision, configure and validate network infrastructure at scale
• Develop standardised network designs, bills of materials and deployment runbooks
• Build automation for zero-touch provisioning, configuration generation and deployment validation
• Support RDMA / RoCEv2 and/or InfiniBand environments, including PFC, ECN and lossless fabric tuning
• Own network acceptance testing and GPU cluster bring-up
• Troubleshoot complex deployment issues and hand fully validated environments into operations

Desired Qualifications:

• Proven experience designing and deploying large-scale or complex data centre networks
• Deep expertise in Layer 2/3 networking and data centre fabric architecture
• Strong knowledge of CLOS, ECMP, VXLAN and BGP EVPN
• Experience with Arista, Cisco, Dell, NVIDIA Spectrum-X and/or Fortinet
• Experience with Cumulus Linux, SONiC, NX-OS or EOS
• Strong firewall and network security experience, ideally Fortinet / VDOM
• Experience supporting AI/HPC, RDMA, RoCEv2 or InfiniBand environments is highly desirable
• Automation experience with Python, Ansible, Terraform and Git/GitLab
