Job summary

CommBank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack to own end-to-end authentication experiences across digital channels. You will work with Node.js, React, Next.js, and GraphQL to deliver secure, scalable solutions and shape engineering practices.

This hands-on role focuses on login, multi-factor authentication, and identity platforms, with collaboration across teams to ensure consistent customer experiences.

Qualifications

• End-to-end ownership of authentication platforms for customer-facing web apps.
• Strong experience with Node.js, React, Next.js and GraphQL.
• Ability to influence architecture, engineering practices, and technical direction.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end authentication solutions spanning React/Next.js experiences and Node.js BFF services.
• Shape scalable BFF and API architecture using REST and GraphQL where appropriate.
• Translate high-level requirements into thoughtful system designs and production-ready solutions.
• Design for secure token management, sessions and identity integrations.
• Build cloud-native services using distributed-system patterns and champion reliability.
