Job summary

Commonwealth Bank Of Australia is seeking a Staff Software Engineer - Full Stack to design secure, scalable authentication experiences across digital channels. You will own end-to-end architecture, influence engineering practices, and contribute to AI-enabled engineering initiatives.

Work with Node.js, React, Next.js, and GraphQL while collaborating across teams to deliver resilient cloud-native services and production-ready solutions at scale.

Qualifications

• Strong Node.js and JavaScript/TypeScript skills with backend or BFF design experience.
• Front-end and back-end balance with end-to-end ownership.
• Experience designing REST APIs; GraphQL/Apollo is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end authentication solutions spanning React/Next.js experiences and Node.js BFF services.
• Shape scalable BFF and API architecture using REST and GraphQL where appropriate.
• Translate high-level requirements into thoughtful system designs and production-ready solutions.
• Design for secure token management, sessions, authentication state and integration with identity platforms.
• Build resilient cloud-native services using modern distributed-system and engineering patterns.
• Champion clean code, automated testing, observability, CI/CD and production reliability.
• Collaborate across engineering teams to create reusable integration patterns and consistent customer experiences.
• Mentor engineers and influence technical decisions while remaining close to hands-on engineering.
