Job summary

CommBank is hiring a Staff Software Engineer – Full Stack to lead design and delivery of insurance tech used by millions of Australians. You will mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and build scalable frontend and backend systems using .NET Core, React/Angular, AWS, and microservices.

You’ll own solution design through development and production, collaborating with Product Owners and Crew Tech Lead.

Qualifications

• Strong C# and .NET experience with REST APIs and microservices.
• Frontend work in React or Angular with modern JS/CSS/HTML.
• Experience designing distributed/event-driven systems (Kafka).
• AWS cloud engineering and containerization with Docker.
• CI/CD and DevSecOps using GitHub Actions, Jenkins, TeamCity or Octopus.
• Experience with SQL Server/Oracle/MongoDB and observability tools.

Responsibilities

• Design and build scalable full-stack solutions for customer-facing apps and backend services.
• Lead technical discussions and influence solution design and tech decisions.
• Mentor engineers and promote engineering excellence across the team.
• Apply DevSecOps practices across build, deployment, and production ownership.
• Prototype emerging tech and develop PoCs to improve outcomes.
