Job summary

Commonwealth Bank is seeking a Staff Software Engineer- Full Stack to lead design and delivery of insurance technology used by millions. You will stay hands-on while providing technical leadership, shaping architecture, and mentoring engineers across squads.

You'll work with .NET Core, React/Angular, AWS, microservices, and containers to build scalable solutions for a resilient home insurance platform, driving reliability and performance while improving customer experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong C# and .NET experience, including .NET Core/.NET Framework, REST APIs, MVC, microservices, and OO design.
• Frontend experience with React or Angular, plus JavaScript, HTML, CSS.
• Experience designing distributed or event-driven systems, e.g., Kafka.
• AWS cloud engineering and containerisation with Docker.
• CI/CD and DevSecOps using GitHub Actions, TeamCity, Jenkins or Octopus Deploy.
• Experience with SQL Server, MongoDB, Oracle and observability platforms like Grafana/Prometheus/Splunk/Observe.
• Demonstrated ability to lead technical initiatives, influence stakeholders and mentor engineers in an Agile environment.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver scalable full-stack solutions across customer-facing apps and backend services.
• Remain hands-on with C#, .NET Core, APIs and frontend technologies including React or Angular.
• Shape microservices, event-driven architecture and patterns that improve reliability and performance.
• Lead technical discussions and influence solution design and technology decisions.
• Mentor engineers and strengthen engineering capability across the team.
• Apply DevSecOps across build, deployment, monitoring and production ownership.
• Collaborate with Product Owner and Crew Tech Lead to deliver solutions end-to-end.
• Champion continuous improvement and customer-focused technology.
