Job summary

Canva is seeking a Staff Front-End Engineer to lead the Design Systems evolution from Adelaide, SA. You’ll drive a portable UI platform, extending React web components to React Native and shaping conventions used by 800+ engineers.

You’ll mentor teams, set standards for portable components, and partner with product groups to align roadmaps. This role blends technical leadership with architecture, code reviews, and strategic direction in a fast‑moving, AI‑aware design system at scale.

Qualifications

• Experience developing or leading a design system with platform stewardship.
• Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, Web APIs, JS/TS, React.
• Hands-on cross-platform UI/UX development with React Native.
• Proven track record shipping large, cross-functional projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design System Evolution team and align with Canva's frontend strategy.
• Extend the web component library to a portable platform for web and mobile.
• Set standards for portable components, distribution, and consumption.
• Mentor engineers through design reviews, decisions, and code reviews.
