Canva is seeking a frontend engineer in Sydney to join a hybrid team. You’ll build rich web experiences, collaborate with product managers, designers, and other engineers, and contribute to design systems.

The role focuses on delivering accessible, performant interfaces, with opportunities to work on Canva Editor, Docs, Presentations, and more. We value learning and cross-team partnerships in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• Experience building web applications with React and TypeScript.
• Solid JavaScript fundamentals and deep understanding of how the web works.
• Able to work through feature development with guidance from planning to release.
• Enjoy collaborating in cross-functional teams and openness to feedback.
• Care about accessible, performant, and user-friendly interfaces.
• Eager to continuously improve craft and learn from others.
• Hands-on experience using AI in coding to drive impact.

Responsibilities

• Design and build user interfaces using modern frontend frameworks.
• Collaborate with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver features that solve real user problems.
• Write clean, well-tested, and maintainable code with guidance from senior engineers.
• Contribute to shared libraries, design systems, and reusable components.
• Participate in technical discussions, design reviews, and team rituals.
• Continuously learn and grow frontend craft in a high-trust environment.
