Bankwest Technology seeks a Staff Data Engineer to lead hands‑on data platform development built around Snowflake, dbt, GitHub Actions and AWS. You will solve complex problems, deliver trusted data products and enable teams to produce meaningful business outcomes.

This is a platform modernization role with emphasis on automated delivery, engineering quality and use‑case‑led adoption. You’ll mentor engineers and influence platform direction across teams.

Qualifications

• Hands‑on experience designing and developing reliable, scalable data pipelines.
• Experience building data platforms with Snowflake, dbt and cloud services.
• Ability to lead, mentor engineers and influence platform direction.

Responsibilities

• Design, build and operate scalable data pipelines and reusable data products.
• Apply strong data modelling, transformation and integration practices.
• Take end‑to‑end ownership of data assets in production, including testing and monitoring.
• Collaborate with product, analytics, data science and business stakeholders.
• Strengthen CI/CD, automation and secure software engineering.
• Provide hands‑on technical leadership and mentor engineers.
• Identify technical debt and risks to improve resilience.
• Explore AI‑assisted engineering to support modernisation.
