About the role
Mytra’s robotics team is looking for an experienced Senior Software Engineer to develop software critical for motion control, task execution, and safety management of our robotic fleet as we scale. You will collaborate closely across multidisciplinary hardware and software teams, own firmware development throughout the product lifecycle, and contribute significantly to real‑time embedded systems critical to our robots’ performance.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high quality code across many layers of the robotics software stack
- Implement highly performant and real‑time code for critical control and safety functions
- Identify performance, maintainability, and reliability of code changes
- Contribute to the complete life cycle of software features including feature definition, implementation, test plan, and roll out strategy
- Assess and contribute to long‑term architectural decisions as software evolves
- Lead and manage integration of initial prototype systems including bring‑up, debug, and engineering test of alpha and beta phase prototype robots
- Own and contribute to all aspects of software development, delivering reliable, secure, high-performance, and scalable integration solutions across cloud and edge environments
- Design, develop, and maintain integration plugins and pre‑built integrations that interface with external systems via APIs, ensuring robustness, reusability, and performance
- Collaborate with customer adoption specialists, product teams, and stakeholders to translate high‑level integration requirements into productised, reusable solutions
- Drive solution architecture and design as a technical authority, making confident, data‑informed decisions grounded in best practices and deep full‑lifecycle expertise
- Identify and implement common patterns and reusable components to promote consistency, scalability, and efficiency across integrations
- Design, implement and manage the CI/CD pipelines for building, testing, and publishing integration plugins
- Ensure adherence to secure software development practices, including managing technical debt, vulnerabilities, and ongoing cybersecurity and trust improvements
- Ensure compliance with company Trust Commitments, values, and policies, and that all development aligns with established SDLC processes
- Support internal and external stakeholders by troubleshooting, enhancing, and maintaining delivered integration components
- Produce clear and comprehensive technical documentation and effectively communicate solutions to both technical and non‑technical audiences
- Leverage modern AI‑assisted development tools (e.g., Cursor, code generation assistants, agent‑based workflows) to improve productivity, code quality, and development velocity
- Contribute to the development and training of AI agents and workflows, including prompt engineering and automation of development tasks, where appropriate
Qualifications

- Experience with C/C++/Rust and system level environments
- Strong experience with Python, particularly focused on application and process level development
- Demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into actionable incremental progress in a continuous integration development environment
- Experience coding in concurrent and multithreaded environments
- Understanding of electromechanical systems, kinematics, and robotics control
- Experience with network communication technologies, including CAN, Ethernet, TCP/IP, UDP, and pub/sub frameworks like NATS
- Understanding of how hardware changes affect robotics software and vice‑versa
- Understanding of Git and software version management
- Strong knowledge of software design and maintainability patterns
- Preferred experience in embedded software and/or firmware development
- Ability to fluently interpret system data to root cause logged faults and build robust diagnostic tools
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with Linux operating systems and kernel fundamentals
- Experience developing integrations with enterprise and built‑environment systems, such as Autodesk platforms, IBM Maximo, Modbus, BACnet, OPC‑UA
