Job summary

Hastings Deering (Australia) Ltd in Archerfield seeks an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team on a 2 year fixed term full-time basis.

You will ensure the stability, performance, security and availability of Hastings Deering's Microsoft SQL environment, lead database design and DR planning, and collaborate with stakeholders to deliver reliable, scalable database solutions.

Qualifications

• Tertiary qualifications in IT or equivalent.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in SQL Database Administration.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including Always On Availability Groups.
• Strong SQL scripting to work with complex data structures.
• Experience designing, implementing and supporting database architectures and data management solutions.
• Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and business continuity practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Experience translating technical concepts into business outcomes.
• Microsoft SQL certifications highly regarded.
• Proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

We are seeking an experienced Senior SQL Database Administrator to join our Information Technology team on a 2 year fixed term full-time basis, based in our Archerfield office.

Reporting to the Enterprise Applications Platform Manager , you will play a key role in ensuring the stability, performance, security and availability of Hastings Deering's Microsoft SQL environment. This role is responsible for the administration, optimisation and continuous improvement of SQL database platforms that support critical business applications across the organisation.

Working closely with internal stakeholders, project teams and external partners, you will provide expert technical guidance while helping to deliver reliable, scalable and high‑performing database solutions that support business outcomes.

What you’ll be doing:

What you’ll need:

A successful teammate will have:

• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology, Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in SQL Database Administration within an enterprise environment.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server, including high availability solutions and Always On Availability Groups.
• Strong SQL scripting to be able to work through complex data structures
• Experience designing, implementing and supporting database architectures and data management solutions.
• Knowledge of backup, disaster recovery and business continuity practices.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills.
• Experience working with a broad range of stakeholders and translating technical concepts into business outcomes.
• Microsoft SQL certifications highly regarded.
• A proactive approach to continuous improvement and operational excellence.

Desirable but not essential:

• Experience supporting Microsoft Dynamics AX environments.
• Experience with Commvault backup solutions and SLA management.
• Experience supporting Exchange and Microsoft 365 environments.
