Job summary

Boeing Aerostructures Australia in Port Melbourne seeks permanent Spray Painters for our advanced manufacturing site. You will apply sealants and paint components in the paint shop, reading instructions and drawings to meet quality standards.

This full-time role offers day, afternoon and night shifts with loading, attractive remuneration, annual bonus, 20 days leave, onsite parking, and a pathway for career progression within a global aerospace leader.

Qualifications

• Australian-recognised trade qualification as a Spray Painter.
• Completion of a trade apprenticeship with spray painting experience.
• Experience painting on various substrates in a high-quality environment.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions.
• Flexibility to work across day, afternoon and night shifts.
• Strong safety and EH&S awareness.

Responsibilities

• Understand the requirements of quality instructions and detailed drawings.
• Comply with BAA and customer quality assurance standards and requirements.
• Comply with surface finish process specifications and work order specifications.
• Operate and monitor spray booths & oven specifications.
• Preparation and painting of final assembled and detailed parts.
• Use of both hand and pneumatic paint process tools.
• Complete preparation processes for painting of composite products.
• Undertake mixing processes and paint application in a production environment.
• Maintain housekeeping and compliance requirements.
• Participate in Lean programs by supporting innovation and continuous improvement initiatives in all areas of the business.
• Participate in health and safety culture and uphold safety & environmental standards.

As a result of our continued success we currently have permanent opportunities for trade qualified Spray Painters to join our advanced manufacturing site located in Port Melbourne on a full-time permanent basis. Reporting to the Manufacturing Manager you will be responsible for Sealant application product preparation and painting of various parts and products within the paint shop. • Excellent work-life balance supporting one of the following shifts:

Shift Schedule:

• Day Shift: 6am - 2:30pm
• Afternoon Shift: 2:30pm - 11pm (15% Loading)
• Night Shift: 10pm - 6:30am (30% Loading)

Position Responsibilities:

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills / Experience):

• Australian recognized Trade qualification as a Spray Painter is essential
• Completion of a trade Apprenticeship backed with relevant experience working as a Spray Painter
• Experience in spray painting onto various substrate materials in a high-quality environment
• Flexibility to work across day afternoon and night shift
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and work instructions as per specifications
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Basic use of computer systems
• Able to exercise independent judgment
• Capable of working under indirect supervision
• General knowledge of safety procedures and strong advocate of EH&S

Additional Information:

This is an EBA position and classified as an Aerospace Tradesperson 1. The successful candidate will be required to complete pre-employment checks and a 3-month probationary period.
