Western NSW LHD in Canowindra, NSW, is seeking a Speech Pathologist to work in a small multidisciplinary team. The role covers a paediatric caseload with some outpatient and inpatient adults, 16 hours per week, in a rural health service setting.

About the role

Be part of a small and dynamic team of healthcare professionals delivering health services to our local Eugowra and Canowindra communities with outreach to Blayney.

Canowindra Health Service provides acute and sub-acute in-patient services alongside emergency and a variety of allied health out-patient presentations and community nursing.

Eugowra MPS provides residential aged care beds, a Walk-In Health centre and community nursing and physiotherapy services.

A Speech Pathologist works as part of a multidisciplinary team including other health care professionals to ensure the maximisation of the client's abilities by using skills a client has and working to develop or improve areas of deficit. This role is primarily a paediatric caseload with some outpatient & inpatient adults. You will work a as a sole practitioner, however, overlap with a senior clinician working the other hours of the position. You will actively participate in clinical supervision and complete activities associated with clinical supervision as negotiated with supervisor in order to develop and maintain professional skills and deliver high quality care.

To be successful in this role you will be suitably qualified, have a current licence to drive in NSW with the ability to drive for work purposes along with excellent written and oral communication skills, be well organised, a good time manager, empathetic, patient, and able to work independently or in a team. Good problem solving ability and being able to adapt to diverse client groups is also required, and to understand the needs of patients/clients and their families, and ensure delivery of high quality patient centred care.
