Job description

Speech Pathologist - Early Intervention with Mentoring & Personal Dev Plan

DOT TO DOT EARLY INTERVENTION – North Geelong VIC

In 12 months, be a better Speech Pathologist than you are today.

You’re good at what you do. But when did you last finish a tricky session and have someone experienced to talk it through with? Or see a child for an hour and wonder whether any of it would carry into mealtimes, play, kinder or bedtime?

Many therapists tell us the same thing. They didn’t burn out from doing therapy. It was everything surrounding it: the pressure, the administration, working in isolation and feeling as though they had stopped growing.

We built Dot to Dot Early Intervention so that doesn’t happen.

We believe we can change a child’s world, so their progress is not isolated to therapy sessions. That means, support should build the confidence and capability of the people already present in a child’s everyday life.

At Dot to Dot, you’ll combine strong clinical practice with human warmth. You’ll help children communicate, participate and connect, while empowering their parents, caregivers and educators to create meaningful change throughout the other 167 hours of the week.

What changes when you join us

You’re never left to work it out alone

Your supervision is private, individualised and matched to your experience.

New graduates receive structured support through our six-month Accelerated Growth Program. Experienced therapists receive opportunities to take on stretch cases, collaborate with peers, develop specialist skills, supervise others and contribute to service development.

You’ll also have regular check-ins with your manager, so your goals, workload and wellbeing remain part of the conversation.

You don’t need to know everything. If you’re comfortable saying, “I’m not sure, can we look at this together?”, you’ll fit right in.

You grow on purpose, not by accident

During your first weeks, we’ll work with you to understand your strengths, interests, skill gaps and next professional growth edge. Together, we’ll turn these into a personalised development plan for your first 12 months.

Your professional development may include:

  • Individual clinical supervision

  • Group peer supervision

  • A dedicated external PD budget and time

  • Discipline-specific learning

  • Multidisciplinary workshops with Speech Pathologists, Occupational Therapists and Dietitians

  • Opportunities to share learning from external training with the wider team

  • Career pathways in clinical excellence, supervision, service development and leadership

We want professional development to influence the therapist you become, not simply add another certificate to your folder.

Your therapy carries into everyday life

We’ll coach you in our Everyday Experts approach, helping you develop practical skills in parent coaching and family-centred early intervention.

You’ll partner with parents, caregivers and educators to recognise opportunities for communication and participation in everyday moments: bedtime stories, playground conversations, getting dressed, shared meals and dinner-table jokes.

You’ll provide high-quality therapy. You’ll help the people who know the child best feel more confident, capable and connected.

That’s how progress continues long after the therapy session ends.

Your week isn’t the same week on repeat

You’ll work with children aged 0–8 across a mix of:

  • Our dynamic clinic

  • Homes and community settings

  • Childcare, kindergarten and school environments

  • Group programs

  • Online services and programs through Everyday Experts Community

Your caseload will be shaped around your skills, interests and development goals.

If you have an idea for a group, resource, service or better way of doing something, we want to hear it. We’re working towards becoming a Centre of Excellence, and our therapists help shape what Dot to Dot becomes next.

You have time and resources to do the job well

You’ll have time in your diary for case preparation, parent follow-up, collaboration and reflection.

Our team supports the administration, invoicing and marketing around your work, so you can focus on being an excellent therapist.

We also provide:

  • A competitive salary

  • Vehicle allowance

  • Access to therapy tools, assessments, resources and professional subscriptions

  • Flexible work arrangements aligned with children’s and families’ needs

  • A welcoming office with natural light, varied therapy spaces and unlimited street parking

  • Regular social activities, charity programs, snacks, coffee runs and colleagues who genuinely enjoy working together

Dot to Dot story

Dot to Dot began with a simple belief: we can change a child’s world, so they don’t depend on therapy.

We saw families moving between appointments and therapists feeling caught between KPIs and the reason they entered the profession in the first place.

So we built something warmer and more human.

A place where therapy feels like connection, not correction. Where families and therapists feel heard, supported and inspired. Where we celebrate the first word, the new friendship, the shared “aha” moment with a parent and every quiet spark of progress in between.

Each day, we connect the dots between research and real life, professional skill and human warmth, and where a child is today and where they may go tomorrow.

Dot to Dot is a proudly family‑owned organisation approaching its eighth year of supporting children and families. Our model brings together private practice responsiveness, community health values and the strengths of genuine early intervention.

We also have strong community connections, a working partnership with Deakin University and our own charity, because we don’t only want to change children’s worlds today. We want to contribute to better systems and services for the future.

Our values

Learn from Others We stay curious, share knowledge and build on each other’s ideas.

Live Authentically We bring honesty, warmth and our individual strengths to our work.

Give Compassion We listen carefully and respond with kindness to each child’s, family’s and colleague’s experience.

Embody Equity We create inclusive spaces where people feel respected, understood and valued.

Connect the Dots We recognise that small, thoughtful actions can create meaningful change for children, families and communities.

You might be a great fit if you
  • Are a Speech Pathologist eligible for membership with Speech Pathology Australia

  • Are interested in working with children aged 0–8 and the people who support them

  • See yourself as a coach and partner to parents, not only as someone who works directly with children

  • Value evidence-based, family‑centred and neurodiversity‑affirming practice

  • Would love to learn from Occupational Therapists, Dietitians, educators and other professionals

  • Want to keep developing, whether you are a new graduate or have 30 years of experience

  • Enjoy collaboration, thoughtful discussion and learning from other people

  • Live in, or would be happy to work in, the Greater Geelong region

What our team says

“As an experienced Speech Pathologist returning to work after living abroad, I was looking to work somewhere that prioritised team values, collaboration and learning. Dot to Dot helped me rebuild home after living away, and I took so much learning away in many areas.

As a neurodivergent Speechie, Dot to Dot provided the flexibility I thrive in, particularly in relation to working hours and managing my caseload. If you want to work for genuinely good people who do the job for the right reasons, this is a great example of holistic care for both staff and clients.”
