Job summary

Department of Education Victoria is seeking a Speech Pathologist for the Student Support Services team in Hamilton. The role focuses on supporting students to develop communication skills across schools, families and communities, traveling regularly within the Hamilton and Portland area.

You will design individualised programs with teachers and families, monitor progress, and contribute to a proactive, preventative education model with opportunities for supervision and professional development.

Qualifications

• Graduate or post-graduate qualification in speech pathology or equivalent.
• Eligibility for membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
• A valid Working with Children Check.
• A current Australian Drivers' Licence.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualised programs in collaboration with teachers, parents/carers and relevant professionals, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and responsive to each student's age, strengths and needs.
• Document, monitor and accurately report on student participation and progress, evaluating outcomes and making recommendations for future programming.
• Conduct assessment of students in areas such as, communication, augmentative and alternative communication, speech, language, and social/behavioural needs; attend meetings and manage Speech Therapy resources.

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Speech Pathologist to join the Student Support Services (SSS) team based in the Hamilton office of Wimmera South West.

Communication is fundamental to learning, participation and wellbeing. As a Speech Pathologist in Student Support Services, you will work with schools, families and communities to support students to develop the communication skills they need to engage, learn and thrive.

This role offers a unique opportunity to influence outcomes not only for individual students but also across entire school communities through consultation, capacity building and collaborative practice.

About the role

This is an ongoing par time 0.8FTE role based at the Hamilton Office, in the Wimmera South West area. This varied role will see you travel regularly around the Hamilton and Portland area, building relationships and supporting local schools, students and families.

In this role, you will support children and young people to achieve their educational goals, participate fully in school life and overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing.

You will:

• Design and implement individualised programs in collaboration with teachers, parents/carers and relevant professionals, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and responsive to each student's age, strengths and needs.
• Document, monitor and accurately report on student participation and progress, evaluating outcomes and making recommendations for future programming.
• Conduct assessment of students in areas such as, communication, alternative and augmentative communication, speech, language, and social/behavioural needs.
  Attend meetings eg staff, therapy and case conferences and manage and maintain Speech Therapy resources.
