Job summary

Therapy Coalition seeks a motivated Occupational Therapist to join the Student Support Services team in Hamilton, VIC. You will support students to participate in learning by addressing functional, sensory, motor and self-regulation needs within schools.

You will travel around Hamilton and Portland, collaborating with schools, teachers and families to design tailored programs and assess progress for meaningful outcomes.

Qualifications

• Graduate or postgraduate qualification in occupational therapy or equivalent.
• Registration with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• A valid Working with Children Check.
• A current Australian Drivers' Licence.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement individualised programs with teachers, parents/carers and relevant professionals, ensuring they are appropriate to each student’s age, strengths and needs.
• Document, monitor and report on student participation and progress, evaluating outcomes and guiding future programming.
• Provide information about equipment and barriers in the school environment as required.
• Conduct assessments of students in areas such as regulation, fine motor, self-care and social interactions.

An exciting opportunity exists for a highly motivated and experienced Occupational Therapist to join the Student Support Services (SSS) team based in the Hamilton office of Wimmera South West.

As an Occupational Therapist in Student Support Services, you will help students participate fully in learning by supporting their functional, sensory, motor and self-regulation needs within educational environments.

About the role

This is an ongoing part time role based at the Hamilton Office, in the Wimmera South West area. This varied role will see you travel regularly around the Hamilton and Portland area, building relationships and supporting local schools, students and families.

In this role, you will support children and young people to achieve their educational goals, participate fully in school life and overcome barriers to learning and wellbeing. You will:

• Design and implement individualised programs in collaboration with teachers, parents/carers and relevant professionals, ensuring they are developmentally appropriate and responsive to each student's age, strengths and needs.
• Document, monitor and accurately report on student participation and progress, evaluating outcomes and making recommendations for future programming.
• Provide information about special access equipment and physical barriers withing the school environment as required by staff, parents / carers.
• Conduct assessment of students in areas such as regulation, fine motor, self care, social interactions.

Qualifications & Accreditation

• A graduate or post-graduate qualification in occupational therapy or equivalent.
• Registration as a occupational therapist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
• A valid Working with Children Check.
• A current Australian Drivers' Licence.
