Job description

We’ve never been ‘just a bank’. Just like you should never be ‘just an employee’. We’re united in our belief that in banking, better can be bigger, and together we’re making it happen.

It starts here. With Bendigo Bank… and you.

Come and be part of our specialist Enterprise Risk team. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape the bank's strategic direction by embedding, uplifting, and automating our core risk management frameworks. If you are a data-minded risk professional who thrives on transforming complex information into interactive Power BI dashboards, driving automation, and navigating ambiguity, this role is for you.

We are currently recruiting a resilient, analytical, and influential professional to join our Group Risk function.

As a Specialist, Risk Appetite & Frameworks (Reporting & Analytics), you’ll make an impact by:

  • Driving a Data Mindset: Transitioning traditional reporting into modern, automated, and interactive reporting solutions.
  • Empowering Decision-Makers: Designing and delivering clear, high-impact Power BI dashboards that provide senior leaders and the Board with the key risk insights needed for balanced decision-making.
  • Automating Processes: Identifying opportunities to streamline and automate data collection and reporting workflows across Group Risk to drive operational excellence.
  • Safeguarding Strategic Objectives: Supporting the oversight of the Group Risk Management Framework, Risk Appetite, and key governance policies.
  • Collaborating & Challenging: Partnering with key stakeholders across the Group to build strong relationships, guide risk metrics reporting, and deliver strategic risk outcomes.
About the Role

The Specialist, Risk Appetite & Frameworks reports to the Head of Risk Appetite & Frameworks. In this key role, you will be pivotal in ensuring the bank’s risk frameworks are robust, measurable, and continuously evolving.

You will lead the charge in modernizing our reporting capabilities. This role balances risk governance business-as-usual (BAU) with a strong focus on digital enablement allowing you to showcase your technical skills in Power BI and automation to uplift how Group Risk presents information to the executive table.

Key accountabilities include:
  • Data Analytics, Dashboards & Automation: Lead the design, development, and maintenance of interactive Power BI dashboards. Drive the automation of reporting processes, reducing manual overheads and ensuring data integrity.
  • Executive Reporting: Exercise judgement to synthesize complex risk data into clear, concise, and professional Board and Executive-level committee reports, drawing out the "so-what" behind the numbers.
  • Framework & Metric Monitoring: Coordinate with stakeholders across the Group to monitor performance against Risk Appetite metrics, reviewing and challenging action plans where metrics are outside of tolerance.
  • Governance Support: Maintain and execute key governance processes, including the annual Risk Management Declaration, while supporting SharePoint workflow management and training initiatives.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Develop and maintain collaborative relationships across the Group, leading meetings to coordinate inputs and constructively challenging metric boundaries and risk tolerances.
What you’ll bring to the role
Essential
  • Strong Reporting & Data Analytics Expertise: Proven hands-on experience designing and building interactive dashboards in Power BI to deliver high-quality business insights.
  • Automation & Digital Mindset: Demonstrated capability or strong interest in leveraging tools (e.g., SharePoint workflows, Power Automate, advanced Excel) to automate manual reporting processes and drive continuous improvement.
  • Risk or Financial Services Experience: Proven background in enterprise risk, governance, compliance, or an analytical/reporting-heavy role within the financial services industry.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Excellent written communication skills, with a track record of translating complex metrics into clear, high-quality reports and papers for senior executive and Board audiences.
  • Resilience and Autonomy: The ability to work independently, manage multiple stakeholders, and confidently navigate ambiguity to drive deliverables to completion.
Highly desirable
  • Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline (e.g., Data Analytics, Business, Finance, or Risk Management).
  • Experience with data modeling, SQL, or advanced data preparation tools.
