Job summary

Rio Tinto is seeking a Specialist Process & Assurance to strengthen Asset Health governance across a large, multi-site network in Western Australia. The role reports to the Principal Asset Health and focuses on operating rhythms, conformance, and practical implementation of best practices.

You will work with site teams and technical specialists to translate requirements into workable routines, drive maturity, and support the adoption of new Asset Health processes across the business.

About The Role

We are looking for a Specialist Process & Assurance to strengthen the consistency, effectiveness and sustainability of Asset Health practices across our operations.

Reporting to the Principal Asset Health, you will own the Asset Health operating rhythm, process governance and assurance framework, working closely with site teams and technical specialists to translate best practice requirements into practical routines that work in an operational environment.

The role will have a strong focus on process conformance, site maturity, action discipline and continuous improvement, while supporting the adoption of new and improved Asset Health practices across the business.

This is an opportunity to influence how Asset Health operates across a large, complex network and build strong partnerships across maintenance, engineering, operations and technical teams.

What You’ll Be Doing

Reporting to the Principal Asset Health and working within a collaborative technical environment, you will be

  • Leading the Asset Health operating rhythm, review cadence and governance processes to drive consistent practice across sites.
  • Developing and maintaining standard Asset Health workflows, routines and assurance requirements.
  • Monitoring process conformance, review effectiveness and action discipline, and identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Assessing Asset Health maturity across sites and working with teams to prioritise and deliver practical uplift opportunities.
  • Translating best practice Asset Health requirements into workable site routines and governance expectations.
  • Supporting the implementation and adoption of new or revised Asset Health processes, practices and ways of working.
  • Maintaining regular engagement with site teams to understand how Asset Health routines are working in practice and provide coaching and support where required.
  • Coordinating inputs and outcomes across Asset Health specialists, site teams, Digital and other technical stakeholders.
  • Ensuring systemic Asset Health issues are identified and escalated through the appropriate pathways.
  • Facilitating cross-site learning and replication of effective practices to improve consistency and performance across the network.

  • Experience Experience working across asset management, reliability, maintenance, engineering, operational excellence or comparable business processes within a complex organisation.
  • Implementation & Improvement Demonstrated ability to translate process or governance requirements into practical ways of working and support their implementation and adoption.
  • Analysis & Action Management Ability to assess process effectiveness and maturity, identify improvement priorities and maintain strong action-tracking discipline.
  • Stakeholder Engagement Strong capability to influence, coach and build effective relationships across operational and technical stakeholder groups in a matrix organisation.
  • Qualifications Degree qualification in Engineering, Asset Management or a related discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
Helpful for Success
  • Experience working with Asset Health, condition monitoring, reliability or maintenance processes across multiple operational sites.
  • Experience conducting process assurance, maturity assessments or governance reviews.
  • Experience establishing or improving operational rhythms, review forums and management routines.
  • Exposure to mining, processing, rail, port or other large-scale industrial operations.
  • Experience supporting the rollout and sustained adoption of new processes or ways of working
