Job summary

The Department of Education Victoria – Swan Hill Specialist School invites applications for an Education Support Class position. Based in Swan Hill, the role involves assisting teachers, coordinating support tasks, and delivering pupil care in a busy school environment.

You will work under supervision, contribute to inclusive practices, and support students with diverse needs, while collaborating with a multidisciplinary team across school programs.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine support for teachers including assisting with planning of student routines.
• Supports communication between teachers and parents.
• Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and/or other responsibilities.
• Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students such as toileting, meals and lifting.
• Engages with students to support comprehension of tasks and information.
• Addresses immediate behavioural presentations within a classroom setting per policy.
• Provides supervision for individuals or groups of up to 4 students within a classroom.
• Supports coordination of educational programs, rostering and guidance for aides and external partners.
• Provides medical intervention support to a student under specific conditions with guidance.
• Provides specialised communication support for AUSLAN and braille.
