Job summary

Concord School in Melbourne's northern suburbs is seeking an Education Support Class employee. You will assist teachers, support students with disabilities, and help implement Individual Education Plans within a specialist setting.

Role is part-time (0.8FTE) with attendance five days per week. Candidates must demonstrate Child Safe practices and a commitment to ongoing professional learning.

Qualifications

• Capacity to undertake classroom and student support tasks within a Special Education environment.
• Ability to work cooperatively with teachers, education support staff, students and parents.
• Capacity to support students with a disability to achieve IEP goals.
• Demonstrated understanding of Child Safe practices when working with children.
• Commitment to professional learning and growth.
• Understanding of school-wide positive behaviours framework and working with students accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Provides routine support for teachers including planning student routines.
• Supports communication between teachers and parents.
• Communicates with teachers on routine matters related to students and responsibilities.
• Provides basic physical care and wellbeing support for students.
• Communicates with students to support comprehension of tasks.
• Assists with coordination of education support staff as required.
• Supports teachers in coordinating educational programs and rostering.
