ALRA | Australia's Leading Recruitment Agency seeks a Special Counsel to lead a premier insurance litigation practice in Sydney. You will own a significant client portfolio, partner with respected Principals on complex matters, and shape the growth of the team while maintaining autonomy to manage matters and build your profile.

The role requires 8+ years PAE across multiple insurance lines, with strong technical ability and a commercial, client‑focussed mindset.

Qualifications

• 8+ years' PAE with experience across multiple insurance lines.
• Strong technical ability in professional indemnity, public & product liability, building and construction, and medical negligence.
• Excellent communication and a commercial approach to client service.

This is a great opportunity for a Special Counsel to step into a key leadership role within a highly regarded insurance litigation practice. You'll take ownership of a significant client portfolio, work closely with respected Principals on complex matters, and play an influential role in the continued growth of the practice, while enjoying the autonomy to manage matters and build your own profile.

A key aspect of this opportunity is the responsibility that comes with it. You will be taking over as the primary point of contact for a major client, as the person currently in this role transitions to another position in the firm. This is also why the technical nature of this role is so varied, covering professional indemnity, public and product liability, building and construction and medical negligence.

Beyond managing your own practice, you'll work alongside experienced Principals who are invested in your success. You'll have the opportunity to mentor junior lawyers, contribute to the growth of the team and continue developing your leadership capability within a supportive and collaborative environment.

To be successful, you'll have at least 8 years' PAE with experience across multiple insurance lines, with strong technical ability, excellent communication skills and a commercial approach to client service. You'll enjoy taking ownership of matters, building trusted client relationships and mentoring more junior lawyers.
