Job summary

Water Corporation's Fire Management Team seeks a Spatial Advisor to support WA's bushfire mitigation program. You will blend GIS, remote sensing and drone operations to plan and deliver critical activities across the State, protecting assets and communities.

Join a team focused on innovative geospatial solutions, reporting, and collaboration with government and partners to strengthen bushfire management and environmental outcomes.

Qualifications

• Experience using ESRI products and spatial technologies.
• Ability to analyze and present spatial or environmental data.
• Knowledge of drone operations or aerial imagery management preferred.

Responsibilities

• Deliver specialist spatial analysis, mapping and visualisation solutions for bushfire mitigation planning and operations.
• Lead coordination of the RPA program, overseeing aerial imagery collection and data assets.
• Use GIS and remote sensing to assess risk and monitor program outcomes.
• Develop reporting, dashboards and visualisations for stakeholders.
• Collaborate with internal teams, government agencies and partners on projects.
• Drive geospatial capability and continuous improvement within the program.

About the role

Water Corporation's Fire Management Team is seeking an experienced and motivated Spatial Advisor to support the delivery of one of Western Australia's largest bushfire mitigation programs.

This is an exciting opportunity to combine spatial analysis, GIS technology, aerial imagery and drone operations to support the planning and delivery of critical bushfire mitigation activities across the State. Working at the intersection of GIS, remote sensing, drone technology and bushfire management, you'll contribute directly to protecting Water Corporation assets, the environment and communities across Western Australia.

What you can expect with this role

• Deliver specialist spatial analysis, mapping and visualisation solutions that support bushfire mitigation planning, operational activities and strategic decision-making.
• Lead the coordination of the Remotely Piloted Aircraft (RPA) program, overseeing aerial imagery collection and the management of spatial data assets.
• Use GIS, remote sensing and geospatial technologies to assess bushfire risk, monitor program outcomes and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Develop insightful reporting, dashboards and visualisations that transform complex data into meaningful information for stakeholders.
• Work closely with internal teams, government agencies and external partners to support environmental approvals, fire management initiatives and cross-functional projects.
• Drive innovation and strengthen geospatial capability across the Fire Management Program through technical expertise, best-practice solutions and continuous improvement.

Your skills and experience

For this role, we are looking for great talent with:

• Demonstrated experience using ESRI products and spatial technologies to deliver practical business outcomes.
• Strong skills in analysing, interpreting and presenting spatial, operational or environmental data.
• Experience with data visualisation tools such as Power BI and the ability to communicate insights effectively.
• Knowledge of drone operations, aerial imagery management or remote sensing technologies will be highly regarded.
• Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop innovative solutions and exercise sound technical judgement.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to build effective relationships across diverse teams.
