Job summary

Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service is seeking a Sonographer to join the Medical Imaging Department in Cairns. You will be part of the Ultrasound team delivering high-level ultrasound services using state-of-the-art equipment.

• Apply professional judgement to a complex caseload with evidence-based practice and limited supervision.
• Provide high level clinical advice to supervisors, service managers and stakeholders regarding service delivery and equipment.
• Ensure patient care issues are managed, including liaison with clinicians and external providers and reporting incidents.
• Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes and contribute to quality and service improvement.

About your opportunity:

In this position you will…

• Apply independent professional judgement to a complex caseload, adapting routine clinical practice based on valid and reliable evidence, with infrequent need for direct clinical practice supervision.
• Provide high level clinical advice to professional and operational supervisors, relevant service managers and other stakeholders regarding service delivery and equipment.
• Ensure patient care issues are managed, including liaison with other clinicians, clinical departments and external providers and patient related incidents are reported and documented according to hospital procedures.
• Monitor and report on clinical practices and outcomes within the clinical service area and actively participate in initiating, developing, and implementing quality and service improvement activities that enhance the delivery of medical imaging services.
