Job summary

Sir Paz Estate, a family-owned Yarra Valley winery, seeks an experienced Sommelier for our Daytime weekend cellar door restaurant. You will guide guests through our wines, conduct tastings, and showcase current releases while supporting Wine Club offerings.

Work on Saturdays and Sundays with optional Friday daytime shifts. Enjoy a collaborative environment among restaurant, kitchen and cellar door teams, with a focus on hospitality and memorable guest experiences.

Qualifications

• Strong wine knowledge with ability to guide guests through our wine list and vintages.
• Experience delivering attentive wine service in a hospitality setting.
• Ability to engage guests and create memorable experiences.
• WSET or equivalent qualifications preferred but not essential for the right candidate.

Responsibilities

• Guide guests through our wines and vintages while sharing heritage of Sir Paz Estate.
• Provide thoughtful wine recommendations and conduct tastings.
• Showcase current releases and back vintages; support Wine Club offerings.

Job description

Sir Paz Estate is looking for an experienced and passionate Sommelier to join our team at our Cellar Door Restaurant in the beautiful Yarra Valley.

This is a daytime-only weekend position, working Saturdays and Sundays, with optional Friday daytime shifts available. No evening shifts are required.

Set amongst the vines with sweeping views across the Yarra Valley, Sir Paz Estate brings together award-winning estate-grown wines, Mediterranean-inspired dining and warm hospitality. We are looking for someone who shares our passion for wine and can bring the Sir Paz story to life for every guest who visits the Estate.

About the role

As our Sommelier, you will play an important role in creating an exceptional wine and dining experience, working closely with our restaurant and cellar door team to guide guests through our wines, vintages and the heritage of Sir Paz Estate. You will engage directly with guests, provide thoughtful wine recommendations, conduct tastings and help showcase our current releases, back vintages and Wine Club offering.

About you

• Previous sommelier or strong wine service experience within a restaurant, winery or cellar door environment
• A strong understanding of wine, with knowledge of Yarra Valley and Australian wines highly regarded
• WSET or equivalent wine qualifications are preferred but not essential for the right candidate
• A passion for wine, food and creating memorable guest experiences
• Confident and engaging, with the ability to share wine knowledge in a warm and approachable way
• A strong team player who works closely with our restaurant, kitchen and cellar door teams
• A desire to continue developing your wine knowledge and become an important ambassador for Sir Paz Estate
