Job summary

PLAYFAIR, a leading migration and legal services provider, seeks a Solicitor or Senior Registered Migration Agent in Sydney. You will manage a diverse caseload across employer sponsored, family and skilled visa matters, and provide comprehensive advice to corporate clients and individuals.

The role requires strong communication, independence, and the ability to work within established procedures while maintaining confidentiality and high professional standards.

Qualifications

  • Must have 3–5 years of immigration law experience across employer sponsored, family and skilled visas.
  • Experience in litigation or Federal Court matters is advantageous.
  • Familiarity with Migration Manager is a plus.
  • Solid understanding of Australian immigration laws, regulations and visa processes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and assistance to corporate clients and individuals across visa subclasses.
  • Carry a caseload focused on employer sponsored, family and skilled visa matters.
  • Prepare, review, and lodge visa applications and related matters (skills assessments, merits reviews, etc.).
  • Manage client files from start to finish and maintain confidentiality.
  • Liaise with clients, the Department of Home Affairs and external organisations as appropriate.
  • Adhere to established routines and document protocols for LEAP Migration Manager.

Since its establishment in 1988, PLAYFAIR has delivered policy advice, professional services, and legal support across a broad spectrum of visa types to multinational and Australian corporate sponsors, high-net-worth individuals, government and non-government organisations, and humanitarian clients worldwide.

We have served applicants from over 70 countries and facilitated more than 32,000 visa applications. Since 2002, PLAYFAIR has been contracted by the Australian Commonwealth Government to provide immigration assistance to asylum seekers, refugees, and disadvantaged humanitarian applicants—both onshore and offshore.

About the Role

The employee is expected to fulfil the specific duties, as outlined by the CEO and senior management, which from time to time will include any or all the duties listed below.

  • Provide comprehensive legal advice and assistance to corporate clients and individuals across a range of visa subclasses
  • Assume carriage of a caseload consisting primarily of employer sponsored, family and skilled visa matters
  • Prepare, review and lodge visa applications and other migration-related applications (such as skills assessments, requests for merits review, etc.)
  • Manage the progress of client files from beginning to end
  • Liaise with clients, the Department of Home Affairs and external organisations where appropriate
  • Work within established routines, methods and procedures, exercise discretion and maintain confidential information
  • Maintain accurate files in accordance with protocols for LEAP Migration Manager

Skills & Experience

  • Minimum 3-5 years experience in immigration law, specifically in the areas of employer sponsored, family and/or skilled visas
  • Experience in litigation / Federal Court matters highly beneficial
  • Familiarity with Migration Manager an advantage
  • Sound understanding of Australian immigration laws, regulations and visa application processes
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team
  • Current legal practicing certificate or admission as a Registered Migration Agent
