Job summary

Recruit Shop Pty Ltd is assisting an established Melbourne law firm in Docklands, VIC to hire a Solicitor specializing in Insurance & Civil Litigation. The role involves taking carriage of a high-volume caseload from intake to settlement or hearing, with an immediate start on a 12-month fixed-term contract.

You will report to the Principal Lawyer and work across hearings, mediations and arbitrations, with supervision and mentoring from experienced practitioners, and earn a competitive salary of

Qualifications

• Experience in insurance, motor vehicle accident or civil litigation matters.
• Admission to the Supreme Court of Victoria (or imminent admission).
• Ability to manage a high-volume caseload to deadline.
• Solid knowledge of Magistrates' Court procedure.
• Strong drafting skills and confident negotiation experience.

Responsibilities

• Manage a high-volume caseload from intake to settlement or judgment.
• Draft pleadings, affidavits, court books and briefs to counsel.
• Progress matters through Magistrates' Court proceedings.
• Negotiate and settle matters with insurers and opposing solicitors.
• Attend mediations, arbitrations and hearings as instructing solicitor.

This role sits within their growing litigation practice, based in Docklands, VIC.

About The Opportunity

The primary purpose of this position is to take carriage of a high-volume caseload of litigated and pre-litigation matters, from client intake through to settlement or hearing.

This is a full-time, 12-month fixed-term contract with an immediate start available.

Reporting directly to the Principal Lawyer, some of your responsibilities will include:

• Managing a high-volume caseload from intake to settlement or judgment
• Drafting pleadings, affidavits, court books and briefs to counsel

About You

The successful candidate will have:
