Job summary

Global firm in Melbourne seeks a Lawyer or Associate to join its general insurance team on the defendant side, handling property damage, construction and liability matters for insurers and London underwriters.

You’ll manage your own files, draft pleadings and advices, brief counsel, attend court, and interact with insurers and experts. Full training is provided, and experience matters more than where you trained.

Qualifications

• Admission in Australia with at least one year's experience as a lawyer
• Insurance litigation, property damage, construction or general litigation experience. Defendant side preferred but not essential at the junior end
• Comfortable using iManage or similar and recording time
• Wanting to run files rather than support them

Responsibilities

• Draft pleadings and advices to insurers, coverage and indemnity advice
• Brief counsel and handle court appearances
• Manage insurers, experts and other parties on own files
• Receive full training on the insurance side of practice
