One Power is seeking a Solar Installer / Trade Assistant in Thornton, NSW, to join our growing renewable energy team. The role involves hands-on installation of solar systems for residential and commercial properties, with start within 1–2 weeks and opportunities to advance technical skills.

You will work with a professional team, assist with mounting, wiring, testing and site safety, and travel between installation sites as needed. A current license and a proactive safety mindset are essential.

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Solar Installer / Trade Assistant to join our dynamic team in Thornton, NSW on a full-time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to work in the rapidly growing renewable energy sector, where you'll play a vital role in the installation and setup of solar energy systems for our valued customers. The successful candidate will be required to start within 1–2 weeks. This hands‑on position offers the chance to develop your skills in solar installation whilst working with a professional team dedicated to delivering quality workmanship.

Key responsibilities

Assisting in the installation of solar panels, mounting systems and associated electrical components on residential and commercial properties

Preparing installation sites and ensuring work areas are safe and compliant with health and safety regulations

Supporting the lead installer with the positioning, alignment and securing of solar equipment

Assisting with the routing and installation of electrical wiring and connections between solar panels and inverters

Helping to conduct system testing and performance checks to ensure installations meet quality standards

Maintaining accurate records of installation work completed and materials used

Adhering to all relevant safety protocols, wearing appropriate personal protective equipment and following company procedures

Communicating effectively with customers, answering basic questions and providing a professional service

Supporting the team with general site maintenance, tool care and equipment management

What we're looking for

Proven experience as a Solar Installer, Trade Assistant or in a similar hands‑on trade role

A solid understanding of solar panel installation processes, electrical systems and safety standards relevant to the industry

Physical fitness and the ability to work at heights safely, with a head for working on roofs and elevated structures

A current driver's licence to travel between installation sites across the Thornton area and beyond

Relevant qualifications or certifications in solar installation, electrical work or related trade disciplines

Strong attention to detail and a commitment to delivering quality workmanship

Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with other tradespeople

A proactive approach to health and safety, with knowledge of relevant workplace regulations and best practices

Reliability and punctuality, with a genuine interest in the renewable energy sector
