Job summary

Essential Solar in Melbourne is seeking a 2nd–4th Year Electrical Apprentice or Trades Assistant to join a growing renewable energy team. You’ll gain hands‑on experience across residential and commercial solar PV and battery installations, while supporting the service division and maintenance tasks.

This hands‑on role offers a mix of installation and troubleshooting work, with mentorship from experienced A‑Grade electricians and opportunities to learn the latest solar technologies.

Qualifications

• Currently completing a 2nd, 3rd or 4th year electrical apprenticeship.
• Willingness to learn and take direction from experienced tradespeople.
• Current driver’s licence (manual preferred).
• Construction Induction Card (White/Red Card).
• Comfortable with hands‑on electrical installation work.

Responsibilities

• Assist with residential and commercial battery installations.
• Support electricians with solar PV and battery system servicing, maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with fault finding, troubleshooting and warranty replacements.
• Roughing in cables and preparing installations.
• Assist with AC and DC electrical installation work under supervision.
• General installation duties, including mounting equipment and running cables.
• Assist with solar PV health checks and site inspections.
• Work alongside experienced electricians to complete jobs safely and efficiently.
