Job summary

The Image X Institute is seeking a Software Engineer (HEO 7) to lead software development for real-time image-guidance technologies used in thoracic and abdominal imaging. This fixed-term 2-year position is part of an NHMRC Ideas Grant project focused on liver cancer treatment and will involve translation of research into clinical workflows.

Qualifications

• Masters in Software Engineering, IT, CS, or related discipline.
• Experience with medical imaging or devices.
• Experience integrating novel technologies with clinical systems.
• Experience contributing to or working with teams.
• Recognition through awards and scholarships.
• Experience with testing frameworks and front-end and back-end web development.
• Delivery of solutions in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Responsibilities

• Lead the development and maintenance of software for real-time image-guidance of the thorax and abdomen.
• Curate databases and code central to the grant aims.
• Author high-impact publications and present at international conferences.
• Support students and junior researchers.
• Develop scalable, high-performance software solutions.
• Coordinate architectural design and system planning for software projects.
• Oversee testing processes and implement automated testing frameworks.
• Coordinate deployment pipelines and ensure efficient software deployment.
• Create and maintain detailed technical documentation for software.
• Foster open communication and collaboration within the team and stakeholders.
