Job summary

Murdoch Children's Research Institute is seeking a Software Engineer to develop, maintain and optimize modern React/TypeScript front-ends, Python-based automation and data tooling in a research-driven environment.

You will own full stack components, deploy and support them in cloud and on-premises setups, contributing to CI/CD and monitoring. Join a collaborative tech team advancing child health outcomes globally.

Qualifications

• Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering or equivalent industry experience.
• Experience developing front-end applications using React and TypeScript.
• Strong Python development and automation skills.
• Experience working with databases, SQL and data troubleshooting.
• Knowledge of Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or OpenTofu.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and enhance web applications, data pipelines and enterprise services.
• Own systems end-to-end from development through to deployment and support.
• Create automation, infrastructure and operational tooling using Python and Infrastructure as Code.
• Support cloud and on-premises environments to ensure reliability, security and performance.
• Contribute to CI/CD practices, release management and system monitoring.
