Job summary

Gridsight is hiring a Software Engineer to join the Flex product team. You will build pipelines and services processing DER telemetry, meter data, and network data at scale, and connect Flex to utility systems and grid modelling engines.

The role emphasizes strong Python/SQL skills, cloud-native development on AWS, and data-intensive software with emphasis on observability, testing, and CI/CD. Flexible work arrangements include remote, hybrid, or in-office options across Australia.

Qualifications

• 3–6+ years of engineering experience across software and data.
• Experience building cloud-native systems on AWS; GCP or Azure acceptable.
• Strong Python and SQL skills for building services and integrations.
• Experience with data-intensive software: ingestion, transformation, orchestration; tooling like dbt, Airflow, Dagster or similar.
• Experience working with high-volume data from external sources; ensure data trustworthiness.
• Solid engineering fundamentals: clean architecture, testing practices, code reviews, CI/CD.
• Familiar with AI-assisted development tools for acceleration.
• Strong ownership and bias to action; move ideas to working software independently.

Responsibilities

• Design and build pipelines and services that process DER telemetry, meter data, and network data at volume.
• Build integrations connecting Flex to utility systems in both directions.
• Develop observability: data quality checks, metrics, logging, alerts for owned systems.
• Maintain data models powering DOEs, backstop events, flexible exports, and battery orchestration.
• Mature ingestion/onboarding processes to be repeatable for new customers.
