Job summary

Gridsight seeks a Software Engineer to own the data ecosystem for its Flex product, building pipelines, integrations, and observability at scale. You’ll move grid data reliably from sources to the product, while collaborating with grid modelling and operations to deliver robust solutions.

The role emphasizes Python/SQL, cloud-native engineering on AWS, and data-intensive software with a strong ownership mindset. Remote/hybrid work options are available across Australia and beyond.

Qualifications

• 3–6+ years of engineering experience across software and data.
• Experience building cloud-native systems (AWS; GCP/Azure acceptable).
• Strong Python and SQL with ability to build services and integrations.
• Experience with data-intensive software: ingestion, transformation, orchestration; tooling like dbt, Airflow, Dagster.
• Experience working with high-volume data from external sources; trustworthy data handling.
• Solid engineering fundamentals: clean architecture, testing, CI/CD.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools and agentic coding workflows.
• Strong ownership and bias to action; move ideas to working software independently.

Responsibilities

• Design and build pipelines and services that process DER telemetry, meter and network data at volume.
• Build integrations connecting Flex to utility systems in both directions.
• Develop observability: data quality checks, metrics, logging, and alerts for owned systems.
• Develop data models powering DOEs, backstop events, flexible exports, and battery orchestration.
• Mature ingestion/ onboarding processes to make new customer setup repeatable.
• Collaborate with grid modelling team to ensure smooth data flow between engine and product.
• Leverage AI-assisted tooling to accelerate delivery and raise shipping bar.
• Contribute to engineering culture: code quality, testing, observability, knowledge sharing.
