Job summary

Thomson Reuters is seeking a Software Engineer to join the TimeBase team. You will collaborate with a global technology group to plan and execute maintenance, migrations, and modernization across TimeBase and related platforms.

You will work on on-prem, cloud, and integration projects, contributing to documentation, runbooks, and knowledge transfer as legacy systems are retired. This is a one-year contractor position with hybrid office options.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Software Eng/IT or equivalent practical experience.
• Able to work independently while collaborating with distributed teams across time zones in AU and globally.
• Strong written communication for documenting technical decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Hands-on software dev experience, incl. data migration, system integration, or platform consolidation.
• Experience with cloud migration moving apps/data to a cloud platform.
• Data/CRM migration experience (e.g. Capsule, Xero).
• Proficiency in Perl, C#.Net, Java, JavaScript, Grunt, Gradle.

Responsibilities

• Plan and execute TimeBase maintenance and development activities.
• Support migration and modernization of TimeBase content in Thomson Reuters systems and Westlaw apps.
• Assist with source code migration into TR tooling and Jira → Azure DevOps migration.
• Support data and CRM migration and validate systems ahead of legacy decommissioning.
• Contribute to TimeBase cloud/infrastructure migration and assess environments for migration to TR-hosted infra.
• Modernise a Perl 5.8 system to the latest PerlSupport platform and enable SSO/observability.
