Job summary

Nine is hiring a Software Engineer for the Consumer Platform team to build foundational services that unify identity, engagement, billing, and subscriptions across Nine’s digital products including 9Now, Stan, and more.

You will work with product managers, designers, and other engineers to design, implement, and improve scalable systems, with a focus on reliability, security, and performance. Flexible/hybrid work options are available depending on role.

Qualifications

• Proven experience building multiple systems and delivering end-to-end solutions.
• Strong competence in core backend and frontend technologies (.NET, Oracle, GoLang, JS, React).
• Hands-on experience with modern cloud platforms (AWS/GCP) and a solid understanding of architectural patterns.
• A track record of implementing improvements to engineering tools and team processes.
• Clear communication skills to explain technical decisions and concepts to non-technical colleagues, paired with a proactive approach to continuous learning and knowledge sharing.

Responsibilities

• Deliver sprint engineering tasks with autonomy and take ownership of squad issues to drive positive outcomes.
• Assist team members in developing solution designs and identify new techniques or technologies beneficial to the squad.
• Actively improve squad-level practices, tools, and standards while helping other engineers elevate the quality and security of their solutions.
• Work effectively with product managers, designers, and fellow engineers while clearly communicating technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and documenting design decisions.
• Collaborate to solve complex problems, ensuring unresolved issues are clearly communicated and captured in the backlog.

Job Description

As a Software Engineer in the Consumer Platform team, you will be a key contributor to building foundational platforms that unify customer identity, engagement, billing, and subscriptions across all of Nine’s digital products. You will help build the technology that powers seamless and engaging experiences for millions of users across trusted brands like 9Now, Stan, The Sydney Morning Herald, Good Food, and The Australian Financial Review.

Day to day you will:
